Everyone’s Welcome!

“The Mt. Juliet Chamber of Commerce is in the beginning stages of forming a new Council on Diversity.  As we all are aware, our community is growing and changing and becoming more diverse in every way.  We recognize that every voice is important and want to ensure that the Chamber is able to hear the voices of all people and include them in the wonderful things that our community has to offer.  We need your help!” - (Jacob Armstrong, Pastor at Providence United Methodist and Mt Juliet Chamber Board Member).

As a member of our Chamber Leadership Team, Jacob is helping us lead the way in making sure our community continues to be the type of place that persons from all backgrounds, walks of life, and religions can come together for the benefit of all. It is our desire and intention to identify potential barriers, celebrate our uniqueness, and to insure that our community culture is such that we truly have an “everyone’s welcome” type feel. As Jacob said, we are in the beginning stages of this effort. We are a bit uncertain just what this journey together will look like, nor can we realistically predict the type or frequency of those sure-to-find-us road blocks that are likely to pop up from time to time. What we do know is that message is clear; This is a wonderful place to call home and everyone is welcome to join us.

We have much to celebrate as a community and we invite others to help us get that message out to our current and future friends and neighbors. If you are interested in helping, we’d love your ideas, concerns, suggestions, assistance, and support. Perhaps you have a story of your own or know someone who does? Why did you choose to call this home and what has your experience been so far? Did you get a sense of feeling welcomed when you got here? What about some of your friends and neighbors who have moved here since you did; did they get to experience a good dose of Southern Hospitality too? Do you have something you can share to help us be a little better tomorrow than we are today?

Please consider this an invitation to become engaged and to help us make a positive difference for those who come after us. Hopefully you will be seeing and hearing a bit more about our efforts in the coming weeks and months. For more information or to find out how you can support these efforts, please feel free to email or call me sometime. I hope you will join me right here next week!
