The Wilson County Public School the district has experienced unprecedented growth over the last few years. More than 18,800 students are currently enrolled and that number continues to increase weekly as more and more families relocate to the area. On average, the student population is growing by approximately 400 students annually. As a result of this tremendous growth, the district is in the midst of its largest building campaign to date. In 2017, five schools were renovated and/or expanded, allowing for the elimination of portables for the first time in decades. Additionally, Springdale Elementary opened in Mt. Juliet in 2017 to alleviate overcrowding. Next fall a new middle school will open in Gladeville, and construction recently began on the district’s fifth high school, Green Hill High School, which will be located on the north side of Mt. Juliet. Green Hill High School will be opening in 2020. A parcel of land has also been purchased to build an additional elementary and middle school in the Mt. Juliet area.
